Eva (1915-1979) was born in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of the well-known novelist Jakob Wassermann.1 She grew up among the intellectual elite of Vienna; her first husband was the son of another famous writer, Hermann Broch. A bright, outgoing young woman, Eva loved to dance and ski; she later became a dance instructor. The last thing that she would have imagined was to be chosen to serve as an instrument for spiritual communication. She left Austria before the Nazi takeover, living for a while in Switzerland. It was here that her psychic talent first began to manifest in the form of automatic writing. She eventually succeeded in becoming a pure channel [photo] for a spirit of high wisdom, who became known as the Guide. This took considerable effort on her part, including meditating long hours, changing her diet, making the commitment to use her gift only for helping people, and risking losing her friends, who thought she was losing her wits.
