Eva Pierrakos - 2

The first 12 lectures were transmitted through Eva in Zurich, Switzerland, in German.  After she moved to New York in 1956, these twelve lectures were translated into English, and all subsequent lectures were transmitted in English.  Eva quietly drew to herself an ever-growing number of people who were attracted to the path of self-transformation taught by the Guide.

In 1971, Eva married the psychiatrist John Pierrakos (1921-2001),¹ [photo1; photo2] who had co-founded Bionergetics with Alexander Lowen.  The next year, Eva and John purchased a property near Phoenicia in the Catskill National Park in New York State.  They used this property to provide a retreat center, providing programs that integrated John's body-oriented therapy with the Pathwork.

Eva's death of cancer in 1979 caused a crisis in the Pathwork community.  Many people left, and John put his energy into building the Institute of Core Energetics and its programs in Manhattan.  Over time, Core Energetics and the Pathwork developed as separate organizational entities.   Core Energetics and the Pathwork remain administratively quite separate.  At the same time, Core Energetics is used within a number of Pathwork training programs, and Pathwork lectures are on the reading list of Core Energetic training programs.
